VTM orders another series of ‘Make Belgium Great Again’ after a successful first series. The successful Belgian program aired its seventh and final episode last night. The heartwarming series captured an average market share of 31,9% in the 18-44 target during the first series, outscoring the channel’s 23% average market share in this target.

But it doesn’t stop there. The missions proved to be as effective as entertaining; with almost 48.000 organ donor registrations (vs the yearly average of 7.000); 40.000 ‘You’re Great’- postcards were sent; thousands of tweets went out to let Trump know that Brussels is not a ‘hellhole’; more than 17.000 online reminders were shared with the minister of environment to remind her that she was planning to ban ‘car flyers’ which she then did; an emoji against ‘online hate’ is now used on a daily and thousands of viewers ordered re-usable water bottles to stop plastic pollution. These are just some of the results, the best result might be that viewers are joining in and starting their own initiatives on the missions highlighted in the show, proving that anyone can make a difference.

Says Be-Entertainment MD Gepke Nederlof, “The entertaining lightheartedness of ‘Make Belgium Great Again’ is being picked up internationally. It’s great to see that so many countries are willing to make their countries great again, just imagine what could happen…”

‘Make Your Country Great Again’ was created and produced by ‘FC Panache’ and sees a team of young TV makers embark on various missions to try and make their country a bit greater, even if it’s just a tiny bit. The format was commissioned by BNNVARA in the Netherlands for NPO3 who closed a deal only a couple of weeks after its launch in Belgium.
