MEDIALAAN and Gepke Nederlof start BE- Entertainment

MEDIALAAN AND GEPKE NEDERLOF START NEW DISTRIBUTION ARM:
 BE-ENTERTAINMENT

MEDIALAAN and Gepke Nederlof (former head of sales at Talpa Global) will join forces in creating Be-Entertainment. Be-Entertainment will represent the format rights of all in-house created content as well as content created by independent producers both in Belgium and elsewhere. All the content will be tried and tested before introducing it to the international market.

Says Ricus Jansegers (Program Director TV, MEDIALAAN): "Taking our creative formats outside the Belgian borders is a long cherished dream at MEDIALAAN. Be-Entertainment is the embodiment of this dream. MEDIALAAN holds a strong position in the Belgian market, giving us the opportunity to develop and test new ideas resulting in a catalogue of strong formats with a proven track record. The combination of this high quality content and Gepke's international expertise are the perfect mix for international success."

"I’m very excited to start a new international adventure together with MEDIALAAN," adds Gepke Nederlof (Managing Director, Be-Entertainment). "Belgium, particularly Flanders, is a true content hotspot that is still pretty unknown internationally. It's a small country with broadcasters daring enough to test new ideas and an audience eager to consume new content. The ultimate breeding ground for an international content company to test drive new formats in order to offer only the best proven titles to the international market."

MEDIALAAN is a leading Flemish multi-media company with activities in TV, radio and interactive media. It offers fresh, creative entertainment and quality information to a mass audience over all relevant platforms using strong media brands. MEDIALAAN is the home of key media brands like VTM, Q2, Vitaya, CAZ, VTMKZOOM, KADET, Stievie, Qmusic, Joe, Mobile Vikings and JIM Mobile.

Gepke Nederlof previously headed up the global sales department at Talpa Global. Nederlof started at Talpa Distribution in 2010, just after it launched its international distribution operation. After the launch of The Voice in late 2010, she helped grow its international footprint and the global company as a whole. She started her career in advertising, where she worked for the Dutch arm of BBDO (Omnicom Group) before moving to BBDO headquarters in New York.
