‘DID YOU GET THE MESSAGE?’ GOES GOLD
After receiving the C21 award for best comedy format last Saturday, the Belgian hit show ‘Did You Get the Message?’ has now been tapped for an intermedia-globe Gold Comedy Award by the International World Media Festival jury.
‘Did You Get the Message’, which offers a fresh take on the best way to get a message across so there’s no chance of it being forgotten, has not only been successful with the respective juries. In addition to a second series currently in production in Belgium, the format has been picked up internationally by VOX in Germany and partner deals have been inked with the US, the UK, France, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden.
The hidden camera show is the brainchild of Tim van Aelst, Belgium’s most prolific content creator, responsible for such internationally successful formats as ‘Benidorm Bastards’ and ‘What If?’ All of the messages are easy to adapt in other countries, as those featured on the Belgian show are universal and readily recognizable.
This isn’t the only good MIPTV news from Be-Entertainment, the recently established international distribution arm of MEDIALAAN representing the format. The fledgling company was present with its first stand in Cannes, where it also garnered a lot of interest in its newest launches: ‘Doctor Davy’ and ‘Long Live...’
‘Doctor Davy’ is an especially developed doctor doll with a camera in its stethoscope. He offers the viewer an up close and personal inside view of the pediatric ward of a local hospital. This factual reality series shares moving portraits of young kids on their courageous hospital journey.
On ‘Long Live…,’ the nation’s most beloved celebrities are honored in a totally unexpected way. Each episode sees one celebrity seated on a throne in the studio while a humorous host takes them through ‘the story of their life’ using clips featuring fun, lighthearted and hilarious sketches.
Says Be-Entertainment MD Gepke Nederlof, “We’re extremely fortunate to start our first official MIP with such strong titles and so much good news. We would be nowhere without good content so are thankful for the trust and support of strong format creators like Tim van Aelst.”
