BEST SERIES AND BEST PERFORMANCE AWARDS FOR ‘STUDIO TARARA’ IN BERLIN
‘Studio Tarara,’ the first scripted project from multiple Emmy Award-winning producer Tim van Aelst, has picked up two major awards at the 3rd edition of the Berlin International TV Series Festival this month.
The critically-acclaimed series won the Best Series award, beating out such tough competition as India’s ‘The Family Man’, Israel’s ‘Magpie’, Poland’s ‘Signs’, Argentina’s ‘Matthew’ and ‘Mocro Maffia’ from the Netherlands. In addition, the Best Performance award went to Koen de Graeve for his leading role in the series.
'Studio Tarara' previously won a Golden Intermedia Globe (Best Entertainment – Mini Series) as well as the Bronze World Medal at the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards in the Entertainment Program – Drama category.
The series takes the viewer behind the scenes of Belgium’s most popular sketch show ‘Studio Tarara’ in 1993, when commercial television channel VTM was just getting off the ground. ‘Studio Tarara’ sees the cast gradually descend into a spiral of self-destruction. Drugs, alcohol, sex and nerve- wracking #metoo cases are the main ingredients leading up to a mysterious suicide and subsequently dragging the entire studio into a police investigation.
Be-Entertainment handles the international distribution rights of Studio Tarara.
