BE-ENTERTAINMENT VENTURES INTO SCRIPTED TITLES

After its successful launch, just over a year and a half ago, Be-Entertainment is now also venturing into scripted titles. The company will be introducing two new titles at MIPTV.

‘Studio Tarara’ marks the first scripted project from Shelter, the multiple Emmy-winning creators behind ‘Did you get the Message’, ‘What If? ‘and ‘Benidorm Bastards.’ The series debuted last month on VTM in Belgium, where it garnered a 31.8% market share (18-44; live + 7) and is one of the ten titles selected for Canneseries. Even prior to it being aired, it was nominated by the New York Festivals’ TV & Film Awards.

Taking the viewer behind the scenes of the most popular sketch show of 1993 ‘Studio Tarara’, the series sees the cast gradually descend into a spiral of self-destruction. Drugs, alcohol, sex and nerve wracking #metoo cases are the main ingredients that lead up to a mysterious suicide which drags the entire studio into a police investigation.

Another new scripted title to be introduced in Cannes is ‘Gina & Chantal,’ produced by Sylvester for VTM in Belgium. The feel-good dramedy is about Gina, who's used to living the good life. After her husband has a tragic accident and ends up in a coma, she discovers that her rich and carefree life is far more complicated than she could have ever imagined. Together with her streetwise cleaning lady Chantal, she attempts to unravel the web of intrigue.
