‘MAKE BELGIUM GREAT AGAIN’ ALREADY MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Belgian viewers tuned in to VTM en masse last night for the launch of ‘Make Belgium Great Again’, which held its own against the transmission of the ever-popular Champions League game of a Belgian team. The primetime show, on which a team of TV makers tackle missions to try to improve life in the country, captured a substantial 27.8% market share in the 18-44 target, well above the 23% average market share.
But that’s far from all the program has achieved! The food waste and organ donations missions featured on the debut episode have already, just one day later, led to initiatives by members of the public. Thanks to the program, some 240 local municipality offices will be open this Sunday to give people the opportunity to sign a donor form. And another mission, to ban flyers left on cars, has already led to an abundance of signatures on a petition page to the responsible minister.
‘Make Your Country Great Again’ was created and produced by ‘FC Panache’ that was also part of the award-winning team behind ‘Sorry about That’.
Handling the international distribution of the format is Be-Entertainment, the international distribution arm of MEDIALAAN. Be-Entertainment MD Gepke Nederlof will be introducing the format at MIPCOM 2018. With missions suitable for many countries across the globe, the Be-Entertainment team plan to do a shout-out to other broadcasters to join the movement and air a locally-produced version of ‘Make Your Country Great Again’ in their country.
