‘MAKE BELGIUM GREAT AGAIN‘ FINDS HERO FROM THE ZAVENTEM ATTACKS
Indian stewardess Nidhi Chaphekar was determined to find the man who came to her rescue during the deadly Zaventem terrorist attacks more than three years ago. Now, thanks to the Flemish TV program ‘Make Belgium Great Again,’ she finally found him.
A photo of the stewardess in a torn uniform became the global face of the attacks at the Belgian airport. Her search was featured on a special broadcast of ‘Make Belgium Great Again,’ currently scoring strong ratings on VTM on ultra-competitive Sunday evenings. During the program, the presenters called on viewers to help identify the man who helped Nidhi on March 22, 2016 after the attacks took place.
The effort paid off. Luc Lowel from the Flemish village of Zoutleeuw was watching the show and recognized himself in the story. As did some of his colleagues, who contacted the program makers. An emotional Skype call reunion soon followed:
‘Make Belgium Great Again’ is continuing to make Belgium even greater, with the launch of a French version on RTL TVI last Sunday. A Dutch version aired earlier this year and new countries will soon be announced.
